The Office of Public Safety at SUNY Broome is responsible for law enforcement, emergency response, hazard control, crime prevention, parking and traffic management, and is also the main location of the campus’ lost and found. In addition our office is available to address any other safety and security concerns of the students, faculty or staff.
Public Safety provides 24-hour coverage to the entire campus and student housing. The Public Safety staff consists of a Chief, an Assistant Chief, an Investigator, Peace Officers, Safety Officers, an Environmental, Safety, and Health Coordinator as well as clerical support. In addition, Public Safety hires student workers to staff the front desk in the Student Village. All Peace Officers are authorized to enforce the laws of the State of New York.
RAVE Alert
To ensure that SUNY Broome students and employees receive critical communications in the most timely manner possible, the college is now using an emergency alert system called Rave Alert. Rave Alert has a proven track record of quickly and reliably delivering emergency communications, which has led to its adoption by more than 1,000 colleges and universities.

It is the mission of the Office of Public Safety to pursue excellence in the field of campus safety and security by working in concert with the campus community to improve the safety and security of the students and staff of SUNY Broome Community College. The Office of Public Safety supports the College’s vision which states, “Broome Community College strives to be a leader in anticipating and responding to diverse individual, community and global needs for accessible lifelong educational opportunities. Environmental Health and Safety
The SUNY Broome Office of Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) supports the College’s core mission of teaching, research, and service by ensuring a safe campus community and promoting environmental responsibility through partnerships with students, faculty, staff and visitors. EHS provides regulatory compliance assistance, training programs, safety program development and implementation, technical support, inspections and emergency response services.
