This path offers individuals who hold an associates degree a way to earn a bachelors degree at a pace that fits their busy life and become comfortable with online courses.
Thanks to SUNY Broome’s 90/30 transfer agreement with Excelsior College, you can build on your Associate’s degree in Business, Liberal Arts, Criminal Justice, Nursing, Health Science, Computer Studies, Electrical Technology, and others. Note that you must have already earned an Associates degree in Nursing to pursue the Bachelors in Nursing degree. You then transfer to Excelsior College to complete your Bachelor’s degree requirements.
- Excelsior College was formed by the New York State Board of Regents in 1971 to address the academic needs of non-traditional students
- It is a private, not-for-profit college
- It is fully accredited by the same accrediting body as SUNY Broome and all of the SUNY colleges – the Middle States Commission on Higher Education

Note: Excelsior College is a private, not-for-profit college therefore students may not use the New York State Excelsior Scholarship toward their education there. Transfer Programs/Excelsior College
SUNY Broome’s transfer agreement with Excelsior College covers Business areas with concentration in: Accounting, Global Business, Marketing, Human Resources, Logistics, Finance, and General Business. Students can transfer up to 90 credits from SUNY Broome towards the Excelsior College Bachelor of Science in Business.
Students with an Associate’s Degree in a Health Science field may wish to pursue their Bachelor’s Degree in Health Science. Areas of Emphasis include Public Health, Health and Wellness, and Management. For those with an interest in the business side of healthcare, the Health Care Management degree may be a good fit.
Individuals who hold an Associate’s degree in Nursing are able to complete additional Arts and Science courses at SUNY Broome to fulfill requirements for their Bachelors of Science in Nursing. Students then complete the Nursing component through Excelsior College.
Electrical Engineering Technology
Graduates of the SUNY Broome Electrical Technology can complete many more courses through Broome that will fulfill requirements toward their Excelsior’s Electrical Engineering Technology bachelor’s degree.
Computer Studies transfer and non-transfer degree graduates can choose from Excelsior’s economically advantageous, on-line, Bachelor’s Degree options including: Cyber-security or Information Technology. Many third-year courses can be completed at SUNY Broome.
Liberal Arts (Human Services)
Individuals who have earned an Associate’s Degree in the Liberal Arts field can earn their Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, Social Sciences (with Human Service Concentration option), History, Natural Science, or Liberal Arts. By combining general education courses and sequences in history, mathematics, science and others, students can take up to 90 credits or three fourths of the coursework toward their Bachelor’s degree at SUNY Broome. Criminal Justice/National Security/Homeland Security and Emergency Management
After earning an AAS degree in Criminal Justice-Police at SUNY Broome, students can combine their degree with a third year of study at SUNY Broome and then transfer to Excelsior College for their final 33 credits of coursework to earn a Bachelor’s Degrees in Criminal Justice. The third year of study at SUNY Broome consists of additional courses in psychology, sociology, history, criminal justice and liberal arts electives. There are options for those interested in National Security or Homeland Security and Emergency Management also.
