The New York Entertainment Workforce Diversity Grant Program

Purpose of Application: To provide financial assistance in the form of grants for job creation and training programs that support efforts to recruit, hire, promote, retain, develop and train a diverse and inclusive workforce for the motion picture and television production and post-production industries in New York State.

Application Deadline: Rolling.

Project Description: Job creation and training programs that aim to provide talent to production and post-production companies in the motion picture and television industries within the state of New York. Eligible programs include training of individuals involved in the principle creation of or editing of a film or television product. These skills and crafts include but are not limited to: Grip/Electric; Carpentry; Writing; Editing; Production Assistant.

Eligible Applicants: The entity applying for funding can be a not-for-profit organization or corporation, a for-profit corporation, a guild or a labor union. Applicants can apply only for training provided directly by such applicants. Training shall not be contracted out to a third party.  Programs for corporate (studio/office/finance) employees are not eligible.

Funding: Range from minimum $25,000 to maximum $500,000, with a 2:1 match requirement. (State matches $2 for every $1 committed by applicant.) Note: In-kind services, or professional services donated by groups such as corporations, small businesses, vendors, colleges, individual professionals or tradespeople are not considered a contribution to the matching funds.

Visions Cares Grant Program

Purpose of Grant: Visions Federal Credit Union gives back more than $1 million each year to local causes, supporting more than 500 organizations. This number only grows with each passing year as community input reveals more and more great work deserving of donations. Some favorite causes involve those fighting poverty, eliminating hunger, improving schools and education, sparking economic growth, supporting physical fitness, or promoting financial health and wellness.

Project Period: Applicants are notified with a decision or follow-up (as needed) in 4 weeks after a request form is submitted.

Application Deadline: At least 8 weeks prior to the date the funds are needed.

Project Description: Charitable projects and programs to be considered focus on (1) impact in one of more of these areas: Animal welfare, Arts, Civic & Community, Economic Development, Education, and Health & Wellness; and (2) development activities in: Affordable housing, Community Service, Economic Development, Revitalization/Stabilization, Underserved/Economically Disadvantaged.

Eligible Applicants: Charitable projects or programs.

Funding: No range specified.

Community College Health CARES (Career, Acceleration, Retention + Employment Support) Consortium Project

Source of Funds: US Department of Labor Strengthening Community Colleges Training Grant via Onondaga Community College

Abstract: As one of an 11-member Community College Health CARES Consortium, led by Onondaga Community College, SUNY Broome will collaborate on regional and statewide strategies to strengthen Career Pathways within health care and social assistance industry through the following activities:

  • Develop and formalize a Consortium Charter to operationalize the work of the Consortium;
  • Participate in a Sector-focused Community of Practice (CoP) and encourage faculty and staff to participate in cross-regional professional development and planning offered through the project.
  • Collaborate to facilitate regional and cross-regional employer engagement in pathway programs and recruitment;
  • Collaborate with Partners within and across regions to align and enhance/accelerate targeted Career Pathway Programs.
  • Leverage the College’s expertise, partnerships, and resources, as outlined in the budget narrative, to support the success of this initiative;
  • Participate in program assessment, evaluation, and reporting to support the development and continuous improvement of the Career Pathways System and Career Pathways Programs.

In addition to participating in (A) the Community of Practice (CoP), and (B) Employer Engagement, SUNY Broome will work to:

  • Develop and implement 3 primary pathway acceleration/retention strategies (Prior Learning Assessment, Development of Agreements, and Development/Implementation of Career Pathway materials and supports), and
  • Accelerate or enhance at least 1 of 4 Consortium-targeted HCSA career pathway programs (Nursing Pathway).

MEETING SCHEDULE

The GPT meets monthly on a Monday from 3:00 – 4:30 pm, with monthly dates assigned on a semester basis. Virtual Zoom meetings will be held and all participants will receive invitations prior to the meeting via email.
