Abstract: The mode of delivery for the Chemical Dependency Counseling programs will be converted from face-to-face to Hyflex, providing a choice for students to attend in one of three modalities: face-to-face, asynchronous, or synchronous (or any combination). The programs will seek approval from NYSED as 100% online for all classroom work (excluding clinical), as well as to become a SUNY Online Plus and possibly Degrees at Scale program. This conversion is intended to promote the enrollment and success of adult learners and eliminate barriers for all students, but particularly those from lower socioeconomic backgrounds and for the working allied health professional, by providing them with individualized choice for program completion to meet their life demands. Offering the programs in a fully online and Hyflex format also serves to expand the program’s geographic borders throughout New York State to meet the growing demand for Chemical Dependency Counselors, which is expected to grow within the region by 20.6% in the next ten years.
