Employee – Wireless Internet

SUNY Broome Community College provides Wi-Fi Internet service for all Students and Employees. This should not be confused with Cellular wireless services provided by Verizon, AT&T, etc., which the college does not provide, operate, or support.

The campus operates a highly secure encrypted network for Students and Employees named “SUNYBroomeConnect” and a Guest Wi-Fi for visitors named “SBCCGuest”.

The SUNYBroomeConnect wireless network requires you to use your network account username and password to connect.

Before attempting to connect to the campus Wi-Fi, you should follow best practices:

  1. Make sure to have valid anti-virus/anti-malware software installed. All newer versions of Windows include Windows Defender anti-virus. Be sure it is installed and operating correctly.
  2. Make sure the latest operating system patches and device drivers are installed.
  3. Remove excessive Wi-Fi hotspot profiles from your device.
  4. It is best practice to operate your computer as a non administrative user for general use. This helps prevent infections, malicious behavior and Identity theft.
  5. Avoid free “hotspot” Wi-Fi. They are often not secure and can subject your Some areas during certain times of the day may be saturated with Wi-Fi clients causing slow performance.device to intrusion/infection and Identity theft.

We make every effort to try to supply coverage across the campus as much as possible, but some areas do not have strong signals due to building materials and interference.

Some areas of campus, during certain times of the day may become saturated with Wi-Fi clients causing slow performance.

Wi-Fi signal can also be found outside in the Parking Lot #1.
