Driver’s Licenses
Each state in the United States has different regulations on driver’s licenses. Some states, but not all, allow international visitors to use their driver’s license from their home country or an international driver’s license to drive in the United States. It is important to check with the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) before you drive. Check this page for more information on getting a Driver’s License in New York.
If you are interested in taking driving classes, here are two local companies that offer classes. Listing them does not mean that we endorse these companies. There may be more companies that offer driving lessons, it is best to do your own research. These schools will teach you how to drive in the United States and assist with the process of obtaining a NYS Driver’s License for new drivers. There is a cost but it will vary on the services you need.

Cultural Adjustment
Learning to live in a new culture is never easy. For most people it is like riding a roller coaster with many ups and downs. You may feel very happy or excited one day and very sad or lonely the next day. You may love the United States one week and hate it the next week. You may have many mood changes. This is very common; everyone experiences some form of cultural stress. These feelings will eventually calm down or go away. Housing
As a continuing student, you may decide to move from your initial apartment choice. If you need assistance in finding an apartment, you should visit the Finding Housing on the International Admissions page. This site is updated each semester and offers both helpful tips on finding an apartment as well as a listing of apartments for rent. There are many other resources for finding housing including the local newspaper and college website.
