No ESL Courses for Non-Native English Speakers
SUNY Broome does not offer English as a second language (ESL) courses that will prepare non-native English speakers for college-level English proficiency. Students must show English proficiency by submitting an ESL Assessment, (i.e. TOEFL, IELTS, DuoLingo, or have at least four (4) years of English in high school or college).
Non-native English speakers will take SUNY Broome’s ESL Placement Assessment prior to coming to Broome, unless there is acceptable proof of English proficiency. Students who place into ENG 107 (College English for non-native English speakers) may also take regular academic courses in their program of study.
