Accreditation is a process of validation in which colleges and universities are evaluated to ensure certain standards are upheld by the institution. The federal government requires that an institution be accredited by a nationally recognized accrediting organization in order for its students to be eligible to receive financial aid.

The MSCHE is an institutional accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).
SUNY Broome Community College has been accredited by MSCHE since 1960. The last reaffirmation of accreditation was June 24, 2021, after completion of the Self-Study process. The next evaluation visit is scheduled 2028-2029. The next Mid-Point Peer Review is 2025.

The SUNY Broome Dental Hygiene Program is accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation and has been granted the accreditation status of “Approval Without Reporting Requirements.” The Commission is a specialized accrediting body recognized by the United States Department of Education. Health Information Technology: A.A.S.
The Health Information Technology accreditor of SUNY Broome Community College is the Commission on Accreditation for Health Informatics and Information Management Education (CAHIIM). The College’s accreditation for its associate of applied science degree in Health Information Technology has been reaffirmed through 2030.
