The Clinical Laboratory Technician program at SUNY Broome Community College has been approved by the New York State Department of Education as a licensure-qualifying program for the New York State Clinical Laboratory Technician. Graduates of the program are immediately eligible for the licensure in New York State, contingent upon the student submitting all application paperwork and fees. The Clinical Laboratory Technician program is accredited by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS), 5600 N. River Road, Suite 720, Rosemont IL 60018. Phone: 773-714-8880. The Standards of Accredited Programs for the Clinical laboratory Technician/Medical Laboratory Technician are available from the program office.
Graduates of the program are immediately eligible for certification by the new American Society of Clinical Pathology Board of Certification (ASCP BOR) the recently combined certification agency of the ASCP Board of Registry and the National Credentialing Agency for Laboratory Personnel (NCA), among others.
The issuing of the CLT degree, however, is not contingent upon the students passing any type of external certifying or licensing examination.
