Who is an International Student?
International Student is a popular term; for the more precise, – a student who is in the United States as a “non-immigrant,” for example, with a temporary visa like the F-1 student visa. The term does not technically include the many students at SUNY Broome who are foreign-born, for example, U.S. Permanent Residents, refugees, and other Visas (H4, etc.).
SUNY Broome is licensed and certified to bring in F1 international students and their dependents, through SEVIS (BUF214F10013000).
Mission
By being diverse and student-oriented, the mission of the International Admissions team is to serve the ever-changing and always growing international student population. We prepare our international students with knowledge and proficiencies which will help them be successful, whether they transfer to a 4-year institution or return to their home country to enter the workforce. Our goal is for our international student population to have a distinct globally enlightened experience to enrich their studies at SUNY Broome while sharing with us their international viewpoint.
