SUNY Broome Community College’s Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) provides access, academic support and financial aid to first-time, full-time students who show promise for succeeding in college but who may need additional support throughout their time at SUNY Broome.
Mission of EOP
The mission of SUNY Broome’s Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) is to provide access, academic support and financial assistance to first-time, full-time students who show promise for succeeding in college but who may need additional support throughout their time at SUNY Broome. The Program is designed to strengthen personal development and assist in building academic skills as students transition to the College’s social and cultural environment. We work to do this in the following ways:
- Supportive and individual attention: Each EOP student is assigned an EOP Counselor who assists them in navigating the College.
- Financial Support: EOP students receive an EOP Grant to help subsidize the cost of attendance.
- Academic Support: EOP students receive academic support above and beyond other SUNY Broome students through our Weekly Study Sessions, EOP Success Workshops and tutors.
- College Transition and adjustment: All EOP freshmen attend the EOP Summer Advancement Academy where they spend four weeks on campus getting to know the staff, college resources and personnel, and each other. In addition, students take classes in Math and Writing to ensure that they are College classroom ready on day one.
SUNY Broome’s EOP staff is committed to providing opportunities to its students so that they may reach their full potential. We aim to arm our students with the information and tools needed to excel academically and socially here at SUNY Broome and beyond.
