Course: Spring 2024 London Trip: Late May 2024
Enthusiastic, Energetic, Inquisitive Students Needed!
The influence of Great Britain on American culture is deep and wide! In this course we will explore major English works and the city and culture that is depicted in or influenced them. Using literature and supporting historical and sociological documents, we will unravel the mystery of British literature! From Chaucer to Shakespeare, from A Christmas Carol to Harry Potter, we will engage in a journey of exploration through literature and then London itself on our eight-day study trip in late May.
Course Description
London and Literature: LIT 275 (3 credits)
Using literature and supporting historical and sociological documents, we will unravel the mystery of British literature! From Chaucer to Shakespeare, from “A Christmas Carol” to Harry Potter, we will engage in a journey of exploration.
Class meet: Thursdays from 01:30 pm – 02:45 pm
Eligibility Requirement: ENG 110

Program Cost
Estimated Program Costs: approximately $2,800 (Exact amount TBD, before the course begins)
The program costs include:
- Round trip airfare
- Lodging
- All ground transportation
- Instructional activities
- Admissions to museums, programs, events, etc.
The program costs do not include:
- Cost of a Valid Passport $165-$195
- Regular delivery included. Takes 7-10 weeks.
- Expedited delivery fee $60. Takes 4-6 weeks.
- Meals $250
- Personal Expenses: souvenirs, supplies, incidentals: possibly $200-$500
- SUNY Broome Tuition: The tuition will be included in the Spring 2024 course load.
