Program Educational Objectives

Graduates of the Mechanical Engineering Technology program will demonstrate:

  1. The technical ability, with substantial independence, to manufacture, analyze and test mechanical components and systems.
  2. The technical capability to participate in the design of mechanical components and systems.
  3. The readiness and social skills necessary for team achievement of organizational goals.
  4. The ability to continue their education and successfully complete a Bachelor degree.
  5. An understanding of the interrelationship of the graduate, the organization, and society, and an awareness of the issues affecting that relationship.

Student Outcomes

Graduates with an Associate in Applied Science in Mechanical Engineering Technology shall have:

  • an ability to apply knowledge, techniques, skills and modern tools of mathematics, science, engineering, and technology to solve well-defined engineering problems appropriate to the discipline;
  • an ability to design solutions for well-defined technical problems and assist with the engineering design of systems, components, or processes appropriate to the discipline;
  • an ability to apply written, oral, and graphical communication in well-defined technical and non-technical environments; and an ability to identify and use appropriate technical literature;
  • an ability to conduct standard tests, measurements, and experiments and to analyze and interpret the results;
  • an ability to function effectively as a member of a technical team
