Artist Bio: I graduated SUNY Broome with my Associates in Visual Communications, then graduated SUNY New Paltz with my Bachelor’s in Visual Arts. I now pursue freelance illustration in my spare time, creating cartoon characters, and watercolor paintings of flower women.
Name of Artwork: Best Friends
Medium: Painting
Artist Statement: I painted this for a challenge where a everyday I had to depict a flower from a list of 30. The watercolor has a peace lily and a Daphne flower which are accented with a .02 micron pen. My purpose of making flower/plant people is to showcase that humans are very much dependent on nature and we must be kind to our environment.
Name of Artwork: Family Time
Medium: Other
Artist Statement: This digital painting is based on a still life photo I found and decided to make some different variations of flower people in vases. I made this using the Procreate app. As I examined the reference photo I realized the flower buds should be babies. This project helped me explore the app features and better my techniques.
Name of Artwork: Quack
Medium: Photograph
Artist Statement: While attending SUNY New Paltz, I really enjoyed a nice walk around the pond on campus. I would frequently take my Canon DSLR with me and shoot photos of the duck, flowers, and whatever else caught my attention! Anything relating to nature was interesting to me and I’d often find inspiration for drawings or paintings on a walk.
