Rich Harrington has been teaching in the Art and Design department of SUNY Broome since 2004. Providing instruction for foundation courses including ART 105: Introduction to Two Dimensional Design, ART 106: Introduction to Three-Dimensional Design, Beginning Drawing, Color Theory and advanced courses, ART 225: Illustration and ART 226/COM226: Advanced Computer Imagery. In 2019 he was awarded the SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Adjunct Teaching.
Mr. Harrington holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Illustration from Syracuse University and a Master of Fine Arts degree in painting from Maryland Institute, College of Art. His industry experience includes working with the partners of Pentagram Design Ltd., (London), Hill Holiday, Connors Cosmopulos Advertising (Boston), Lehman Millet Inc. (Boston), WNEV-TV (Boston), Madison West Advertising (Baltimore), VMLY&R Advertising (formerly Young and Rubicam Worldwide), Archer Malmo Advertising (Memphis) and Yoe! Design (Peekskill).
He has worked as a Fine Artist, Graphic Designer, Advertising Art Director, Web Designer and Freelance Illustrator for such clients as Houghton Mifflin Publishing, Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network, A&E Home Video, Telebrands, Nabisco and Mattel.
Mr. Harrington brings his varied experience into the classroom with real-world projects and provides a sense of what it is like to work as a creative team in the professional creative world. Pushing the envelope of personal expression and creativity while applying foundational concepts of design are at the core of his teaching approach. He is currently represented by Anthony Brunelli Fine Arts Gallery.
