SUNY Bridge to Entrepreneurial Excellence – $6 million
In 2013-2014, the largest grant in SUNY Broome’s history was secured: A $6 M project to design and construct a student start-up/ prototyping incubator in downtown Binghamton’s Southern Tier High Technology Incubator, an initiative spearheaded by Binghamton University.
Carnegie Library Revitalization – $5.5 million
In 2014-2015, SUNY Broome was awarded funding for 28 grant applications, including $2.2 M in Regional Economic Development Council?Empire State Development Corporation (ESD) funding for the Carnegie Library Revitalization Project. Additional ESD monies for this project in the amount of $3.3 M were awarded in 2018.
NYSERDA Energy to Lead Competition – $1 million
In 2016-2017, SUNY Broome won a student-led, $1m NYSERDA Energy to Lead Competition to fund installation of a Geothermal System to heat/cool the future Calice Advanced Manufacturing Center and to construct an on-campus Sustainability Sandbox to encourage ongoing student-led clean energy projects.
NSF Scholarships in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics – $640,000
In 2017-2018, the National Science Foundation (NSF) awarded $4.1 million to Binghamton University, with SUNY Broome to receive more than $640,000 as a sub-award of this five-year, federal grant. Most of the funds will cover annual scholarships of approx. $10,000 each for low income, academically gifted students to pursue STEM degrees related to smart energy. These students will continue to receive scholarships at BU to complete their BS degree in STEM.
SUNY Performance Improvement Fund Projects (qty 5) – $1.28 million
Also in 2017-2018, SUNY awarded a total of $1.28 M to SUNY Broome for five, two-year projects: (1) Aircraft Maintenance AOS Degree Program Development, $106,000; (2) Business Information Technology Enrollment & Effectiveness, $180,000; (3) Academic Program Development in Food Systems & Production, $416,000; (4) Integrated Planning & Advising for Student Success, $235,000; and (5) A “Resident Entrepreneur” Approach, $345,800.
