SUNY Broome’s Student Assembly is the Shared Governance body that discusses issues pertaining to students on campus. Members of the group discuss issues concerning campus life, review student-related campus policies, and sit alongside faculty and staff on college committees charged with making recommendations to College administration. Representatives of Student Assembly sit on the three other Shared Governance Bodies: College Assembly, the Council for Academic Issues, and the Council for Operational Issues. In addition, one Student Assembly member serves as the Student Trustee on the SUNY Broome Board of Trustees and votes on all items brought forth to that group. Senators provide input on club activities, social events, and programming.

There are currently vacancies for Senators on The Student Assembly. Students interested in joining Student Assembly should come to a General Assembly Meeting. Meeting dates are posted on The Swarm. Candidates must have above a 2.00 GPA if they are continuing students. First semester students may run for The Student Assembly but must earn over a 2.00 first semester GPA to continue.
