What to Know Ahead Of Time
Move-in day is Saturday, August 24th.
- If your room is on the 2nd or 3rd floor, your move-in time is from 9am – Noon.
- If your room is on the 1st or 4th floor, your move-in time is from Noon – 3pm.
The first number of your room assignment tells you what floor you are on. For example, if your room assignment is 213, you are on the 2nd floor.
As you prepare for move-in day, we highly encourage you to review your Residential Life Handbook. It has a lot of important information from what to bring and what not to bring, campus resources, a campus map, and much more!
What to Expect On Move-In Day
Upon arrival all traffic will be directed onto Lt. Van Winkle Drive (the corner of the College adjacent to the Gas Station). Once on campus you will follow College Drive around the back of campus as shown on the map below. Depending on traffic flow, you may be staged, or held in line, for some time as we unload those students ahead of you. We will have buildings open as needed for individuals to use the restroom while they are in line.
Once it is your turn to start unloading the real fun begins. You will be directed to an unloading spot by one of our SUNY Broome Public Safety Officers. From there you will be cheerfully welcomed by our Volunteer team who are available to assist you in unloading your belongings into one of our moving carts.
*We assume no liability for damaged items during our Move-In Day Process. Please use our Volunteers at your discretion.
Once unloaded, one of our volunteers will stay with the belongings while our new resident checks in and gets their key. During this time we ask that whomever drove the car/truck moves the automobile into Lot #1 where we have ample parking for all of our students, families, and friends.
After the student checks in, they will be escorted by the volunteer with the cart full of belongings to their new room. We will unload very quickly, but safely, so that they can help the next student in line.
After you work up a sweat from moving all your belongings inside, please stop by outside for a small BBQ provided by a local community supporter of the Student Village, Central Baptist Church.
