Nursing Department

Welcome to the Nursing Program at SUNY Broome!

The Faculty in our Department are dedicated to the goal of preparing new graduate Nurses for entry into the modern health care workforce. The curriculum provides the foundation of Nursing knowledge and the essential technical skills for competency.

The Faculty work with students to become caring, proficient professionals who understand the importance of ethical practice and the spirit of inquiry. We ensure our students receive clinical experiences in various local health care facilities including hospitals, long-term care facilities, home health organizations, and health clinics.

Our graduates are eligible to apply to take the Nursing Council Licensure Exam for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN). Licensure is granted through the NYS Education Department. In order become a Registered Nurse in NY the graduate must:

  • be of good moral character;
  • be at least eighteen years of age;
  • meet education requirements;
  • meet examination requirements; and,
  • apply for an RN license with NYSED.
