As a student there may be times when you, or someone you know, will need additional assistance to be at their best. SUNY Broome Community College has a vast array of resources available to assist students at being successful both in and out of the classroom. From academic to personal support, the Dean of Students has relationships with many SUNY Broome departments that can offer students assistance when needed.
Academic Support
Academic Advising– Joint effort between our teaching faculty and our professional advisors who have specialized knowledge of courses and programs and are the best sources of information on how to complete your program requirements.
Learning Assistance Department– Offers courses and activities to help you meet your academic goals. Free services that are offered include:

- Reading Comprehension & Study Strategies

- Supplemental Instruction
- Tutoring

Personal Support
Counseling Services– Counselors are available to help you explore, understand, and deal with your unique personal issues and to help you balance your personal, career, and educational goals.
Health Services– Services offered include limited treatment for illnesses and injuries, limited emergency care, blood pressure screening, pregnancy tests, contraceptive information, healthy lifestyle information, and tests for strep throat.
Public Safety– Responsible for emergency response, hazard control, crime prevention parking and traffic management and are available to address any other safety and security concerns of the students, faculty, or staff.
