Student Activities Events Intern
Duties
- Assist in creating, planning and implementing events on both a large and small scale that are relevant to
SUNY Broome students. - Assist in creating ongoing training sessions for student event staff in order to keep ideas fresh and
relevant to the student population. - Assist in supervision of events and student event staff.
- Assist scheduling of student event staff.
- Assist in developing new advertising plan and working with Marketing and Communications team to
implement the plan based on specific events. - Assist in maintaining, organizing and inventory of event items and giveaways.
- Meet 1:1 with supervisor and attend meetings and trainings related to position as needed.
- Research best practices and popular events of other institutions.
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelors’ degree required.
- Enrollment in a Master’s program in college student personnel, counseling, psychology, social sciences,
or fields related to this position. - Experience working with student activities is preferred.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills, strong organizational skills, and experience in case
management preferred. - Willingness to work some Nights and Weekends.
- Creative mind and interest in discovering fun events for students.
- Some event planning experience preferred .
- Strong belief in an active student experience during college.
- Proficiency with Google applications preferred .
- Quality communication skills both written and oral; including the ability to understand and articulate
policy and procedures. - Balance of a professional attitude while having fun.
Student Activities Intramural Intern
Duties
- Coordinating intramural sports on campus including; program design, planning, scheduling, supervising and implementing, maintaining communication with team captains, refereeing sports as needed
- Develop an encompassing intramural advertising plan and work with Marketing and Communications team to implement the plan
- Assist scheduling and training of league referees.
- Manage and organize sports leagues and sign ups
- Primary point of contact for intramural participant
- Intern may be given opportunity to plan and coordinate recreation events that correspond and promote intramurals
- Maintain, organize and inventory gear
- Meet 1:1 with supervisor and attend meetings and trainings related to position as needed.
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Strong belief in an active student experience during college
- Familiarity with team sport rules and play, including but not limited to soccer, basketball, football, dodgeball.
- Proficiency with Google applications preferred.
- Quality communication skills both written and oral; including the ability to understand and articulate policy and procedures
- Balance of a professional attitude while having fun
