Adjunct cello instructor Meredith Roessner is a local performer, teacher, and chamber musician in the Greater Binghamton Area. Currently, she performs with the Binghamton Philharmonic and Tri-Cities Opera Orchestra, of which she has been a tenured member for over fourteen years. Originally from Annapolis, Maryland, she relocated to the Binghamton Area after completing her Bachelor of Music degree at Ithaca College under the tutelage of Elizabeth Simkin and Heidi Hoffmann, during which she toured Ireland as principal cellist with the IC Chamber Orchestra. She has also studied with Paula Childress of the Baltimore Symphony, and has performed in Master Classes for Yo-Yo Ma, Janos Starker, and George Niekrug. For one year, Mrs. Roessner filled in as the cello teaching assistant at Ithaca College, where she taught scale proficiencies and class cello to music majors. After receiving her Masters of Science in Teaching, she not only teaches all ages and levels of cello pedagogy, but is also in her thirteenth year of teaching high school English. Additionally, she is an adjunct faculty member at Tompkins Cortland Community College and teaches accelerated Academic Writing 101 and Approaches to Literature 102 to advanced high school seniors for college credit. During this time, she has maintained a private cello studio for over twenty years. She lives in Vestal with her husband and five-year-old daughter.
