Dr. Olenik earned her BA in English (2010), MAT English 7-12 (2011), and her Ed.D at Binghamton University (2020). She worked at Binghamton University for eight years teaching Engineering Communications in the Engineering Design Division — the freshmen engineering program in Watson College. She has worked at SUNY Broome since June 2021 in the STEM Division and added the Health Sciences Division in February 2022.
Dr. Olenik enjoys learning new things and bettering the college experience for all. She firmly believes that if you work in education, you must love learning, enjoy a challenge, and be self-motivated. When she was teaching, she was often caught saying to students (and herself) “You cannot finish something until you start it.” She believes in collaboration, modeling behavior, experiential learning, and civility, and she works to incorporate those beliefs into her life both at work and at home.
