A lifelong Broome native, Burt studied classical guitar at SUNY Potsdam’s Crane School of Music. He then worked in music instrument and print music sales before attending Binghamton University for Arts Management. Since 1990, Burt has taught music theory, cinema history, and guitar, and directed the elementary orchestra in the public schools while performing in local bands and producing electronic music for private clients and fellow music teachers. He is currently the guitarist and lead singer of The Scott Freeman Band, a ten- piece wedding and event band. Burt is also currently teaching bass guitar at SUNY Broome.
