A Syracuse, New York native; Mike holds a Bachelor of Music Education degree from The University of North Texas, a Master of Music in Jazz/Commercial Music from the Manhattan School of Music, and a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the Eastman School of Music.
From 1995-2005 Mike was a freelance artist in the NYC music scene. From 1998-2003, he toured the world with jazz trumpet legend Maynard Ferguson serving as a featured soloist and music director. He has performed in over 20 countries including England, Thailand, Germany, Azerbaijan, Israel, Australia, Russia and Sweden. Mike currently leads the Micro Big Band; a 10-piece, high-energy concert jazz band with its musical roots steeped in the traditions of Big Band, Jazz-Rock, and Bebop.
As a music educator, Mike conducts the Jazz Ensemble at SUNY Broome Community College, and teaches music theory, jazz improvisation & saxophone at Syracuse University.
