Abstract: Supports program improvements in six CTE programs of study within the Health Services cluster at Broome Community College: Clinical Laboratory Technician (AAS), Histological Technician (Cert), Phlebotomy (Cert), Nursing (AAS), Nursing EV-WK (AAS), and Medical Assistant (AAS). The acquisition of industry-standard instructional materials will help these programs keep pace with advances in healthcare technology and emerging skill sets that are essential to maintaining a realistic, active learning environment where students can prepare successfully for careers in nursing and allied health professions. All purchased services, supplies
and materials are intended to improve and modernize the targeted CTE programs, primarily via hands-on simulation opportunities that will provide enrolled students with simulated learning experiences to best understand the targeted healthcare industries and to assist them with
preparing for high skill, high wage, and high demand occupations. These outcomes will be evaluated by tracking rates of persistence, graduation/ attainment of recognized credentials, and placement (transfer and employment), and completing semester-to-semester and/or year-to-year
comparisons of tracked data.
