Trustee
Peter Kennedy
As a member of the board of trustees my goal first and foremost, is to act as a voice for student concerns on campus. I believe transparency and information are the greatest tools to utilize change. As a member of The Black Student Union and co founder of Progressive Activists for Change, I am used to lobbying the administration on behalf of the student body and as a tutor I understand what it takes to make students successfuI.
My goals for this semester are to work with both the bookstore and the cafeteria, to make books and food more affordable and accessible to all students. Expanding the hours of our great facilities such as the library and gym is also of the upmost importance this semester. But perhaps, most ambitiously, I would also like to create a “Transparency Report” accessible to all students, which would allow them to see exactly how and where your tuition money is spent, as well as providing statistics for previous years so students can easily understand in what areas certain fees associated with tuition may have gone up or down. As a student leader my job is to make SUNY Broome a better place for all students, as well as holding the administration accountable for any inaction on their behalf, our collective strength can and should enact change.
Michelle Smetana
I am eager to implement positive change not only at SUNY Broome but also in our community. I want everyone here to feel heard and acknowledged. I want, no, need to create a better experience and environment at SUNY Broome, but I’ll need your help to achieve that. When it comes to my personal work ethic, I am no stranger to volunteering my time. This past summer I spent a few weeks with the All Hands and Hearts organization in Puerto Rico. There, we rebuilt roofs, performed mold sanitation, debris removal, and other repairs caused by the damage from hurricanes. Since my time in Puerto Rico, I have felt empowered to enact positive change, no matter the time or place.
If I am fortunate enough to be appointed your trustee, I want to hear your ideas, and I want you to know that they will be heard and never ignored. To facilitate communication between the students and myself, I will hold a monthly Q&A session, the times of which will be announced once a location has been reserved for them. Even if you cannot attend the meetings, however, I will always be available to you via email at m.lynne315@gmail.com. While speaking to students, I have collected a list of concerns from their opinions. I care about you, your ideas, and making a positive change on campus. Please help me make a difference by voting Michelle for your Trustee.

Ahjahnay Minard
I have been a part of student assembly for about a year now. Last year we made some changes and this year we want to make more. Working with student assembly I will continue to work hard and try to make a change for numerous of things. I want to be a senator so that I can voice my opinion and help the vice presidents with bigger decisions. I want to be able to be a backbone for the presidents and vice presidents. I want to be of help when the time comes. This year I hope to accomplish letting people know that student assembly is here to help. That nobody is alone on this campus and that they have a right to be heard as well.
Nicholas Gilbert
During this administration I would like to make the conversations surrounding the popular issues our students complain about – The Bookstore, The Cafeteria, Busses – more productive and include the facts and not just valid complaints. Additionally, I’ll make the topics we discuss as a committee productive, inclusive, and focused, as well as the information surrounding the discussion itself public knowledge.
As a Political Club Leader on campus – I operate the club Progressive Activists For Change – I have experience on how to coordinate and communicate with the general public, as well as navigating the rules and bylaws of our current system.

Amber Gary
Dear follow students of Suny Broome Community College ,
My name is Amber Gary this year I am currently running as one of your senators on Student Assembly . I would love to join the team of senators we currently have to show other students that women need to let others hear there voice as well as to help be a voice to the students who live on campus who tend to feel that there are on campus issues that go overlooked. I hope that with this position I would be able to make a difference for those on campus students as well as to show the minority on campus that our voice is important and if we want it to hurd we must stand tall and be brave . I have only truly began to understand what standing tall and being brave really meant when I became Student Executive for Pep Squad (powerful, educated, phenomenal) a program here on campus which encourages young women of color to realize that the are powerful ,educated, and phenomenal .
