The Math Lab’s Mission Statement
The Math Lab provides students with a safe area, free of judgment about ability and need, to study mathematics and obtain varied tutoring services. The Math Lab also serves to provide professional development opportunities for faculty and staff to develop their math and communication skills.
Math Lab Location and Schedule
In the summer, we will be available (online or in person in the library) Monday through Thursday. We won’t sure what our schedule will look like until we know whether we will be open for in-person tutoring or whether we will be 100% online. As soon as a decision has been made, we will post our schedule.

The Math Lab is a tutorial center for SUNY Broome students taking any mathematics course offered at the college. Students with all ability levels are welcomed by our Learning Specialists, Professional and Peer Tutors. Many full-time members of the Math Department spend an office hour in the Math Lab each week and several part-time faculty members work with the staff to provide individual and small group assistance. The minimum math competency level required of peer tutors is calculus. Besides tutorial services, students are encouraged to use our media collection to augment class lectures. They may borrow retired textbooks for additional exercises. The Math Lab also has computers which include the general software a student finds on campus, as well as full Internet access. Software that is course specific has been installed to allow students to work with or without a tutor.
Students may continue to utilize Math Lab services through their math courses here at SUNY Broome.
- Math Lab Services are available to SUNY Broome students who attend class regularly.
- If you have missed class, you must meet with your instructor before tutors can help.
- Tutors can review material from your notes, but cannot teach you new topics.
