Career Week 2018
Career Prep Series
In their 2018 Job Outlook report, the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) surveyed over 200 employers nationwide regarding their hiring intentions as they relate to new college graduates. Over 80% of employers indicated that the top 3 attributes employer seek on a candidate’s resume are: problem-solving skills, the ability to work on a team, and written communication skills. Leadership, strong work ethic, analytical/quantitative skills, and verbal communication skills were also near the top of the list.
With that in mind, the ALCC hosted their first ever Career Prep Series – a carefully curated schedule of workshops and events throughout the Spring 2018 semester. The main goal? To compliment work in the classroom by assisting students in their awareness and development of their professional skill set.
Attendance at each Career Prep workshop earned attendees an entry into a Kindle Fire drawing. The more students attended, the more entries they had/better chance of winning. The winner of our Career Prep Series drawing this semester was Gillian Ruiz. Congratulations, Gillian! Huge shout out to Student Activities for partnering and donating the Kindle Fire!
